MOVE YA BODY: THE BIRTH OF HOUSE

We’ve just finished our partnership with Summer Dance for the season – but the dancing continues with this look at the history of house music. Going all the way back to its queer and black roots in Chicago, the vibes might just get you in the mood to move ya body at one of our nearby partner venues!

THE GOLDEN SPURTLE

Our former resident taco chef Toby joins other contestants in the Scottish Highlands for the World Porridge Making Championships. He used to regale us with stories of his porridge quests and exploits, so we’re excited to get along to see them on the big screen – and you should be too!

OFFSIDE

It’s the year of supporting football for TGBC. And while Aussie Rules might be a long way from Iranian soccer, Offside sees us keep the trend going for SFF. This comedy follows female football fans as they try to get their sporting fix in the face of sexist, oppressive authority.

EDDINGTON

Situated in ‘the Wild Inner West’, it’s no secret that we at Grifter have a penchant for all things country ‘n’ western. That’s why we can’t wait to see Eddington, with the most stacked cast on this list, featuring the likes of Pedro Pascal, Emma Stone and Joaquin Phoenix.

FLOODLAND

In solidarity with our friends up in the Northern Rivers, we pick this documentary that follows locals grappling with the realities of recent floods. Floodland shares the important story of real people and communities in the face of climate catastrophe.

ELLIS PARK

If you’ve ever been to our brewery, chances are there was a Bad Seeds track playing at some point. So, we’re excited to see a documentary about band member and multi-instrumentalist Warren Ellis in the SFF mix. In fact, you can even catch Warren at one of the festival’s many awesome speaker events!

THE HAKA PARTY INCIDENT

Like many members of the TGBC Team, this one comes from across the Tasman. The Haka Party Incident examines a key moment from Aotearoa’s modern history, shaping the country as we know it in terms of national identity and race relations.

With tickets selling fast, make sure to get yours before they’re all snapped up. And of course, don’t forget to stop at the bar on your way into the movie for a can of your favourite TGBC brew. It’s the perfect accompaniment, no matter what you’re seeing!
