A TWIST ON BREWING TRADITION

Italians have been brewing lagers since the mid-1800s, influenced by Germanic traditions that flowed over their border shared with the Austro-Hungarian Empire. So, although it might not seem as stereotypical as wine or pizza, beer in Italy has a rich history.

However, Italian Pilsners really hit the scene in the late ‘90s, when craft brewers in Italy combined English and Czech ingredients and techniques to create something distinct. And true to form, TGBC were always going to go our own way with it.

PIZZERIA PRIMED

Enter Birra Quattro – our take on the Italian Pilsner style, crafted with local pizzerias in mind. Embracing the simplicity of the style and of quality pizza, Quattro heroes four basic ingredients (hence the name). All-European malt, yeast, hops and water come together in an elegantly delicious beer. Most importantly, it pairs perfectly with a slice of your favourite pie!

The entire Sydney pizza community was invited down for the original brew day, with pizzaiolos from across the city joining us to make the beer, enjoy some pizza and connect. We released the first batch on World Pizza 2023, and we’ve continued the tradition ever since, releasing it annually by popular demand on the 9th of February.

Birra Quattro is only available at select restaurants and venues across Greater Sydney and the East Coast. So, cans in the fridge are a sign of quality pizza.

WHAT’S ON TOMORROW’S MENU

In another layer to the Quattro lore, this beer was our first foray into the world of pizza. Cut to now, and we’ve gone on to launch our own in-house pizzeria – Fortune Pizza – slinging discs several years. And in 2026, Fortune is releasing a special for World Pizza Day, to sit side by side with Quattro in a truly celebratory combo and a match made in heaven.
